Important Stakeholder and Service update from Thirrili and the NICRS

As the situation with the coronavirus (COVID - 19) evolves, please know that we have taken proactive steps to protect our staff and our communities. What remains constant, is the supports that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people need for suicide postvention, now more than ever.

Thirrili services remain open at this stage. We know how important supports are at such times of uncertainty therefore our aim to serve people that have been impacted by suicide continues.

However, we have made very important decisions based on current expert health, government and Aboriginal health leader’s advice to ensure the safety of our staff, our communities and our clients. Thirrili have many of their staff now working from home, but still working for the needs of families and communities.

Please note the following changes to services:

  • Thirrili staff will do most of our business by phone and online via email and videoconference; where possible.  We understand that some of our clients will not have access to phone or the internet and face to face visits will occur based on extreme circumstances only, with strict social distancing practices applied;
  • Travel to communities and areas outside of normal office locations are restricted for the safety of others;
  • We encourage all of you when accessing our services to respect the social distancing policy for 1.5 metres in place.

We are here to assist and our 1800 phone line is available for after suicide supports 1800 805 801.

We will continue to closely monitor the situation daily and provide updates on our website or via communication and engagement with any of our staff. We remain committed to helping our communities stay safe.
